Why three initial sessions?
The broadest answer is this; your body needs time to decompress. This doesn’t magically just “happen” for most people in your first hour on the table. Remember, this work is slow and deep. We must have patience to be able to really relax (which as many of us know, can be hard!)
The first major step we work on is helping your body return to a more level, balanced-feeling place. This occurs both in the physical body, as well as in the brain. In this stage we are working with your nervous system.
From there, sessions continue to work deeper into different levels and layers. We focus on the physical structures of your body, as well as the stress cycles exhibited, emotional connections discovered, and many other layers of stress, anxiety, trauma, and more. All of this can help re-establish balance, flow, and efficiency in your body. It helps ease restrictions, chronic patterns, and varying layers of tension.
Are Distance sessions as effective as In-Office sessions?
Yes! In the distance sessions Emily has preformed, clients are able to track sensations and release in a very similar manner as when they receive the work in person. Distance sessions are done via phone, so clients are able to relax, be hands free, and able to lie down in a comfortable place in their own surroundings.
Though CranioSacral work is a bodywork practice, it also deals directly with the Nervous System, which doesn’t always operate according to linear time; thus, the access to layers of release starting from this baseline can be found both in person and at a distance. The only requirement of you as a client is to show up ready to do the work with an open mind and heart (just like an in-office session!)
